YSBC, Novel Academy in association with local partner Urjalab, successfully conducted Pokhara Chapter of 4th National Social Business Challange on June 1st and 2nd in a village called Chanaute situated in Durlung ward of Parbat district, Kusma , Gandaki Pradesh. The program was completed in 4 sessions; 1. Orientation to the participants of the program 2. Idea generation workshop 3. Social Business modeling and management workshop 4. Social Impact analysis workshop 5. Idea pitching training. 5 mentors jointly facilitated the sessions namely Nikhil Shakya from Blincventures.com, Kathmandu, Kshitiz Baral, Centre Manger YSBC, Novel, Surendra Pariyar, CEO, Bahini foundation, Binayak Poudel, CEO, Urjalab, Hari Poudel, BBA co-ordinator, Novel Academy. Final idea pitching session was conduted on June 2nd where 7 teams pitched their idea and the winner was selected.
The progam had prominent effect on the thought pattern of participants about social business and entrepreneurship. The hospitality of the homestay was highly appreciable. Some participants also enjoyed adventure sports like rock climbing, caving and cannoyning i.e jumping from the water fall with the help of rope in presence of guide. 5 Volunteers also facilitated the program by helping participants to work in their ideas and draw the business model canvas.
In conclusion, the program initiated the social business wave in Gandaki province of Nepal and side by side promoted rural entrepreneurship in the village of Durlung.
