Background

• GHS is social business enterprise established in 2006 under Bangladesh Company Act. 1994, initiated and inaugurated by Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus. He is the chairman of our board of directors.
• GHS is a member of Grameen family and operating successfully by adapting the concept of Social Business and cross subsidy model 
• Four companies of Grameen Family Grameen Telecom, Grameen Telecom Trust, Grameen Kallyan, Grameen Shakti and are the Stakeholders of GHS.

At present, GHS has four eye hospitals located at Bogura (2006), Barishal (2009), Thakurgaon (2013) and Sathkhira (2020) districts. Currently, we have 29 physicians, 160 nurses and paramedics, 116 admin and support staff. In total, 307 employees are serving in four eye hospitals. Altogether, GHS hospitals have 230 beds including wards and cabins.

So far GHS hospitals treated 2.5 million patients, performed more than 1.8 Lac cataract surgeries and 26 thousand other eye surgeries. we provided (till June 2023) free treatment to 6.36 lac patients and performed 15 thousand free surgeries. We also performed more than 49 thousand surgeries at a subsidized rate.  We have an eye support surgery fund to cover the free and subsidized surgeries.
